The Season Ahead – with Suzy Vercoe

Spring has Sprung

And with it, a new sense of optimism.

We’re still contending with a number of challenges. Staff shortages remain an issue not just for us, but the entire industry. These days it only takes one or two people getting sick (and you might have noticed there’s been a bit of that lately) to cause major disruptions.

I’d like to once again publicly thank the staff who have been tremendous in stepping up in difficult circumstances and all our members who have been remarkably patient and understanding throughout.

The other great challenge of late has been the impact of inflation and rising supplier costs. We hate to raise our prices. But as you would all be aware, almost every level of the supply chain has been dramatically affected in recent months and we can only absorb so much.

We understand everyone is feeling the pinch, and we intend to remain a great value destination for quality dining and entertainment. So you can be assured we won’t ever increase prices by any more than is absolutely necessary.

However, as I have said, we come into this new season with a sense of optimism that we have been through the worst and things are only looking brighter at Caboolture Sports Club from here on.

Here are some of the highlights for the season ahead!

Food and Beverage

As we do each season, we will be releasing a new range of cocktails at the start of spring. Once again, there’s a musical theme and our talented team have produced a rather fun menu that I’ll leave for you to discover on your next visit. Keep an eye out for some more incredible photos on our social channels.

Our monthly catering specials kick in on the first Friday of the month. Look out for exciting updates to the Farm to Table menu at the Mill Restaurant which features locally sourced ingredients. I don’t want to give too much away – but I’m personally very excited about the spiced corn riblets!

The Laneway Café will have new offers too, as will Tempo which you might have noticed has recently expanded its opening hours. Now you can get pizzas and a delicious range of light meals and snacks from noon through to 8pm every Wednesday to Sunday (or 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays).

One menu that is not changing is the Mill’s recently released dessert menu which is proving to be exceptionally popular. If you haven’t tried it yet, you really need to. It’s amazing!

Father’s Day

One of the first events in Spring is Father’s Day. It’s now just a few short days away. I hope you all remembered to book in to our famous all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet! At least one sitting is already fully booked, but if you are quick you might still be able to get into one of the others.

Promotions

Did you know members receive a free entry into our promotions with every visit to the club just by swiping their membership card in the Diamond Rewards Kiosks? You’ll find them just as you come through the foyer. And you can get bonus entries when you use your card while playing the gaming machines or with food and beverage purchases.

The first major promo for spring is already underway. Which means if you’ve paid us a visit in the last few days, you are already a chance of winning. Ups a Daisy will be drawn on the 25th of September and members will get to determine their prize by picking petals off our display flowers. One will give you a cash reward, the other will multiply your prize. You could win up to $5,000 instantly.

In October, our attention switches to candy! You can start collecting entries in our Candy Cash promotion on the same day as we draw Ups a Daisy. So that’s double the bang for your buck!

Speaking of doubling – we’re shaking things up with our Ultimate Members Draw. Simply put, we want to see more members win. So from the end of the current cycle we’ll begin our new and improved version – the Double Ultimate Members Draw where there will be twice as many chances to win the major jackpot and twice as many consolation draws every Tuesday.

Our major promotion in November is going to be a lot of fun too. With a nod to roulette, Cabroulette will give members up to ten free spins of the wheel to see how much cash they can claim!

And of course, we have a range of promotions, bingo and raffles on every week. There’s always something fun and exciting happening at Caboolture Sports Club.

WPT League Poker

Adding to our offerings, the biggest name in poker is now at Caboolture Sports Club with Monday night games commencing on 5 September.

You may have seen WPT League tournaments on television. You don’t have to take it that seriously here. You can just play for fun.

But if you are keen to take it further, you can also earn ranking points that may lead to bigger tournaments!

Free Entertainment

Your home of free entertainment has some exceptional shows coming up in spring, starting with Viva Bon Jovi in just a few days’ time. Rumours (a Fleetwood Mac show) will be coming on the 1st of October and the very popular Pink Gaga show will be back on 5 November.

We’re also continuing with our featured Caboolture Country nights with Vixens of Fall on 24 September, the Smokin’ Crawdads on 29 October and Toby Tyler and the Country Boys on 19 November.

Along the way will be heaps of fantastic soloists, duos and party rock bands!

Ticketed Shows

We have some great value ticketed shows coming up too – some of which have already sold out!

Comedian Mike Van Acker hosts a themed trivia night each month with prizes for winners, lucky door and most passionate fan. The next one, Harry Potter and the Night of Trivia has already sold out. But we’re now selling tickets to the 7 October show which is based on three decades of music. I suggest you get your tickets ASAP!

The Sit Down Comedy Club will be joining us twice in spring with tickets to see both Steve Allison and Emma Zammit on 16 September available now for just $20. But I wouldn’t wait as these shows tend to sell out as well. Keep an eye out for Jenny Wynter and Fred Lang who will be the feature acts in November.

The Badboys are coming in October. Tickets sold out within days of being released so they agreed to do an encore performance in November. That one sold out too. If you are one of the lucky few to secure tickets, make sure you turn up nice and early as there won’t be any reserved seating. It’s going to be a massive night – twice!

Whiskey or Rum? Why not both?

Lovers of Tennessee whiskey should take a look at our JD Experience which is coming up on 23 September. The team from Jack Daniels will guide you through some of their product range including the very impressive new Jack Daniels Bonded.

Or if rum is your thing, then perhaps you’d prefer A Night with Bundy on 21 October. Hosted by a Bundaberg Mixologist, your tickets include five courses of food, each matched with a premium and aged Bundaberg Beverage.

Bingo $7,000 Super Session

If you love bingo then take advantage of the day off to play in our Bingo $7,000 Super Session on 3 October. Doors open at 1pm. Eyes down from 2.30pm.

Kids Club Halloween Party

Book your little monsters into our fully supervised Kids Club Halloween Party on 29 October. There will be a Halloween themed disco, games, slime workshop, face painting and more! It’s only $5 for Explorer Kids Club members and $10 for non-members. A couple of hours of peace for you – priceless!

Melbourne Cup

It simply wouldn’t be spring without the Spring Racing Carnival. This year, in addition to our Seafood Luncheon and our Garden Party on the Terrace, we’ll have an extra Melbourne Cup themed event.

Our Melbourne Cup Calcutta Dinner will be on Sunday 30th October. Hosted by the amazing John Reid, not only will you enjoy an entertaining night out, you’ll have exclusive access to our Calcutta Auction. For those of us who will never actually own a Melbourne Cup racehorse – this is probably the next best thing and makes the big race even more exciting.

And as if that wasn’t enough, members who attend any of our Melbourne Cup events will receive bonus entries into our $5,000 guaranteed promotion Past the Post on Cup Day as well as raffle tickets and a sweeps ticket.

I could probably go on about everything that’s happening at Caboolture Sports Club this spring for hours, but I’ll leave it there for now.

For all the latest, keep checking the website. Or better yet, call into your club and see for yourself.

I look forward to seeing you here!
