Mike Winkworth
Mike Winkworth is a dynamic and versatile entertainer whose musical influences are the foot stompin’, Rock ‘n’ Roll of Elvis, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dion and others.
Another influence is the hauntingly beautiful voice and the ballads from Roy Orbison.
The homely charm of country music is yet another.
Mike developed his craft touring the Sydney Club circuit. Although a sought after and popular entertainer, Mike gave up music for many years to pursue a career in social work specializing in areas such as child protection, drug, alcohol and domestic violence.
Mike has toured extensively with country music legend Lee Conway, performing in the Legends of Rock n’ Roll Tribute Show, the Roy Orbison Tribute Show and many others. A successful CD release and National airplay saw Mike embark on many Australian tours. The CD was met with interest in Europe and the UK, so he moved to South Africa for one year, playing at major venues and corporate events. Circumstances led Mike back to Australia and later on a planned UK tour.
At present, Mike created and is performing his new cabaret show, ‘Rockin’ the Country’. Featured are the music of Elvis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, The Mavericks, The Blues Brothers plus foot stomping Rock n’ Roll. This cabaret act will tour nationally in 2011.
