Selected for Zone 26 to compete at the PCAQ State Formal Gymkhana Championships, Taylah Smith recently returned from making the trip up to Maryborough.
“Unfortunately I had to retire my preferred horse recently and had to take a horse that I’ve only been riding for two months prior to the event,” said Taylah.
“Considering this, we performed very well placing 13th and 14th in various events.”
The Rising Star program recipient participated in eight individual events including presentation, show jumping, all-round Pony Club mount, rider class and four sporting events.
Taylah’s age division consisted of 27 other riders varying in age from 17 to 21 from across the state.
“Over the next eight months I will continue to train my new horse for state qualifiers and will be competing in the State Championships again next year,” commented Taylah Smith.
“I would like to sincerely thank Caboolture Sports Club for their ongoing support in assisting me to be able to attend these events.”
