Young Caboolture softballer Jacob Rooke has a jam-packed schedule ahead of him after being selected in both the Queensland Patriots side and the Australian men’s team, The Steelers.
Later this month Jacob will be heading to New South Wales with the Patriots to compete in the Australian Open Mens Nationals and in April he’s off to the land of the long white cloud to compete in the Southern Cross Challenge.
From there he’s on to Oklahoma City in the US for the World Cup of Softball in June.
Caboolture Sports Softball Association Administrator Chris Challenor said softball was in the Rooke family’s blood.
“Jacob started playing at Caboolture as a tee-ball player and you would often find Jacob with his brother Shane and his dad, Bernie, out on the diamonds at the Dances Road grounds practising for hours on end,” she said.
“Jacob remains an active member with the CSSA both as a player with the Warriors Men’s side and whenever possible, he is always assisting the development of our juniors.”
Although the 2011 season is well and truly over, preparations are already underway for the start of the 2012 Winter Season. Plus, the Under 15 boys and girl representative sides have just started training for the State Championships in March.
